TOROLAN vs OUTL7W CITY: When A Robbery Goes Wrong…

In 2008, a scene worthy of a horror movie took place in the South of Chicago. Torolan Williams, 28, and his colleague Michael King committed the irreparable on April 23, 2008.

On April 22, the day before the crimes, Arthur Brown was looking for marijuana. When he asked Torolan where he could find some, Torolan told him he had a « lick, » an easy plan to get marijuana and money at the same time. Torolan claimed to Brown that it was an easy hit and he just needed to watch an alley, which Brown did.

On April 23, 2008, they went to the following address: 7600 block of South Rhodes Avenue, which is none other than the MTV neighborhood, on the border with that of HadiWay. As agreed, Brown watched the alley while Torolan and Michael went to a house at that address. No one really knows what happened in the house until Richardson and his friends, Anthony Scales J a/k/a ‘Tony Too Much’., Reginald Walker a/k/a ‘Reggie’, Whitney Flowers, and Lakesha Doss were put on the ground. Richardson, a/k/a ‘Don P’ was on the couch when he was shot in the head. He was 24 years old. Lakesha, 17, couldn’t stop crying and screaming, so Torolan turned around and shot her in the head. Anthony, 26, Reginald, 23, and Whitney, 22, were also found shot in the head.

A few days later, Torolan insisted that it was King, his colleague, who killed the 5 people in the house. Brown was surprised since he didn’t know there had been a massacre in the house when they left it on April 23, 2008. He learned of the massacre on TV only, according to his statement. They were arrested shortly after for the five murders.

In 2009, one year later, Torolan, who had focused on religion while in custody, confessed to two of the five murders to Brown: Don P’s and Lakesha’s. Brown, Torolan’s colleague, eventually turned against them and testified against them for the murders of the five people.

In 2014, they were all tried and sentenced to prison terms: Torolan was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the 5 murders. Michael King was sentenced to 15 years in prison for armed robbery with shooting, 21 years for armed robbery with shooting (yes, again), and life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the murder of the five people. Arthur Brown got away with 24 years in prison for murder and some other minor charges.
